VIEUX CHINOIS |
| |
Our
speciality is sacred art. Au Vieux Chinois, directed
by Marc Higonnet, a descendant of Picard de Genève,
the appointed art dealer to Balzac, is showing buddhist works
of art. There are some wonderful pieces on show in his charming
gallery, which resembles an old Chinese Cabinet de Curiosité.
Fascinated by the Orient and with a passion for zen Buddhism,
Marc Higonnet began his Asian art venture 15 years ago. |

Chinese
and Japanese furniture from 17th to 19th century, screens,
paintings, bronzes and japanese works of art. The CAPTIER
Gallery is settled for 30 years in the heart of the Carré
Rive Gauche, main antique dealers area. They have a very big
space with a contemporary design.
Sylvie et Bernard CAPTIER travel many times every year
to Japan and several areas in China. They bring furniture
and works of art that illustrate the most clearly for us
authenticity and originality. Old Japanese furniture with
their simple and sober design mix perfectly with the pure
line and the deep grain of the chinese furniture. Works
of art, paintings and japanese screens complete this Far
East atmosphere.

ANTIQUITES
VALERIE LEVESQUE |
| |
Chinese
art from the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, pieces of the
East India Company, a collection of Japanese art from the
Momoyama, Edo and Meiji periods, Tibetan bronze. The
gallery is in Paris, situated at the very heart of St Germain
des Prés, next to the river Seine, facing the Louvre
museum and close to the Orsay museum. It is in the antique
dealers district known as the Carré Rive Gauche,
where collectors, art lovers and French and foreign decorators
come to discover precious antiquities.
The various ways of Buddhism or Taoism are expressed through
the Kakemono, the Tanghka and sculpture. The scholar's objects
or more generally the objects frome the imperial court of
China or Japanese Shoguns daimyos are also presented at the
gallery. All the objects are sold with a certificate of authenticity.
A graduate of the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, Valérie
Levesque took an early interest in Asian art. She explains
in The Art Newspaper (n° 108, Nov.2002) that her grandmothers
Asian art collection had influenced her in her choice to specialise
in Chinese and Japanese art.
While still a student, a visit to the Guimet Museum was a
revelation and was the starting point of her passion. She
first specialised in Chinese and Japanese porcelain then extended
her acquisitions to paintings, lacquers, cloisonné,
jade objects, ivories, etc..
Valérie Levesque works with Asias art museums,
foundations, private collectors, antique dealers and international
decorators, always focusing on the condition, the beauty and
the antiquity of the pieces presented.
You can contact us for the appraisal of an entire collection
or for a single object, we are also able to travel anywhere
in France or abroad. We guarantee absolute discretion. |
